This morning, following the investigation against the Ahbap Association, it has been deemed necessary to make the following statement after the detention of our former President Mr. Emre KARTALOĞLU and TÜRMOB Independent Audit and Sustainability Center Board Members Mr. Gülgün ÖZTÜRK, Mr. Muharrem KARATAŞ, and Mr. Ersin GÖKGÜN, due to the persistent distortion of the issue before and after the incident.
1. From the very first moment of the earthquake, our Union has carried out numerous aid organizations, primarily for our colleagues, towards the earthquake zone. All of these organizations have been conducted under the coordination of relevant governorships, public institutions, and our Chambers.
2. While these aid organizations were ongoing, upon a request from the Ahbap Association to our Union, a report was prepared by three of our colleagues who were previously assigned to a Committee established within the Union, regarding the donations received in the two bank accounts registered to the Association between 06/02/2023 and 30/06/2023 and the payments made from these accounts. This report, which contains only the content of the account examination, was prepared without any fee, solely as part of a social assistance project. The report clearly states the standard under which the account examination within the Association was conducted, what its scope was, what this report means, which issues were excluded from the scope, that it does not provide any assurance regarding the accuracy and reality of the documents presented for examination, and that the work done does not replace an audit to be conducted by public institutions.
It is also clearly stated that the report is a special and limited report prepared to be submitted to the Association's management. In this sense, it is observed that the professionals have conducted a study in accordance with the IHS 4400 Standard.
On the other hand, our aforementioned account examination report, which was prepared exclusively and limitedly for submission to the Association's management, has been published on the Ahbap Association's website and announced to the public with the statement 'TÜRMOB audited us.' Despite the clear indication of the scope and nature of the report, the presentation as if a comprehensive audit had been conducted by TÜRMOB shows that the Ahbap Association is attempting to create a misleading perception in bad faith.
3. Contrary to the claims of some media members and social media users who seem to have never read the reports, Emre KARTALOĞLU has not conducted any audit of this association in any way. Until his resignation from the presidency on 19/10/2025, he has only worked to protect the common interests of the professionals and for the future of the profession.
4. It should be reiterated that the prepared report does not contain any findings, guarantees, or assurances regarding the donations received by private individuals' accounts being transferred to the Ahbap Association, the accuracy and reality of the information and documents presented within the scope of the examination, or that the accounting records used as the basis for the examination have not been altered subsequently. Therefore, it is possible for the accounts and transactions of the relevant period to be audited by authorized institutions and organizations, and different findings to be made as a result of these audits.
5. The special, limited, and only submitted to the Association's management report, which is stated to be titled 'Situation Assessment Report,' prepared by our Union, being announced by the Ahbap Association as if TÜRMOB had subjected them to a comprehensive independent audit on their website may indicate the bad faith of the Association, but it cannot be used against the audit team that has clearly written everything in the report.
6. The process is closely monitored by our Union, and we firmly believe that justice will be served in the shortest time possible. The public will be informed about developments.
